About Wire Your Rig
Wire Your Rig by TheDadShift (wireyourrig.com) is built with AI-assisted tools by a 2009 Tacoma owner who wired a 320Ah LiFePO4 system behind the rear seat. TheDadShift is the small shop behind it. It covers the two questions every rig build-out runs into: how to wire the electrical system safely, and whether everything you add still fits the vehicle's payload.
It is not written by a licensed electrician, marine electrical (ABYC) technician or engineer, and nothing here is professional advice.
How the calculators are made
The formulas follow published references (ABYC voltage-drop and ampacity tables, NEC conductor data, battery and inverter maker guidance, NHTSA/FMVSS placard rules), which are listed on each page. The calculation code is tested automatically against a recalculated copy of our paid spreadsheet and against published worked examples. The free printable cheat sheet is generated from the same code. If you find an error, please tell us: [email protected].
How the site is funded
The calculators are free, and there are no ads. TheDadShift sells optional paid spreadsheets on Etsy. Affiliate links may be added later to the "What this result means you'd buy" boxes; none exist today. Neither affects the results. See the affiliate disclosure.
